Tipo de Atividade: The development of imaging probes has become a research area that has attracted numerous chemistry groups worldwide. The need of tailoring the probes for the specific tasks (called as ?smart probes?) they have to fulfill has contributed to the growth of new collaborative projects in the field of biological and medical sciences. On one hand this has contributed to opening chemists? mind to the complexity of biological systems and on the other hand it has prompted biologists and physicians to acquire a molecular view of the underlying phenomena. Various platforms are available for the diagnosis of malignancy through molecular imaging, such as MRI, MRS, PET, SPECT, Optical Imaging, Ultrasound Imaging etc.One of the recent trends is, multimodality imaging with a single probe. Henceforth, it creates the room with many challenges for synthesizing smart probes for two imaging techniques. More recently, for MRI applications novel paramagnetic systems have been reported to show the great versatility of this class of agents to undertake new routes for an enhanced sensitivity and an improved characterization of the biological microenvironment. The project will focus on the synthesis, isolation of pure compounds, characterizations, and complexation with paramagnetic metal ions for the molecular imaging applications. The project involves multi stages organic synthesis of high polar organic heterocycle cage kind of molecules with HPLC purification by both analytical and preparative techniques. The pure compound/ligands can be used for various complexation with transition/lanthanide metal ions, in order to have its potential applications.The probe can be evaluated with various studies such as, Relaxivity, NMRD profiles, pH variations, Enzymatic cleavage, Liposomal formulation, and other Spectroscopic studies.
