Tipo de Atividade: The project will be based at the Hertie-Institute of Clinical Brain Research (HIH), in Tubingen, a small university town in the South of Germany. Tubingen is a center for neuroscience research, uniting a renowned university, a Max Planck Campus with four thematically related institutes and a site of the german center for neurodegenerative diseases. The intern will join the team of Dr Simone Mayer who studies understanding how neurotransmitters modulate mammalian cortical development, evolution and disease emergence. The team started its work in Sep 2018, thus giving the intern a chance to contribute to the work of a young and highly motivated team. We employ a large range of methodologies ranging from single-cell RNA-Sequencing to immunohistochemistry, live cell imaging and mass spectrometry on cells and tissue samples from animal models and patient donation. We colaborate with experts in the fields of bioinformatics, biophysics ad biochemistry. The intern will thus have the opportunity to experience different research fields in an interdisciplinary context at first hand. Depending on the previous experience and interests of the intern, they will be working with a member of the lab, getting to know standart as well as advanced methods in cell and molecular biology. Additionally, the lab uses different computational tools for data analysis, which the intern may contribute to. The start and end date of the internship are flexible and can be dicussed between the host and the intern after a videl call interview.
