Tipo de Atividade: The Robotics and MultiBody Mechanics Research Group has a long tradition of using in the field of physical and cognitive human-robot interaction. More recently, efforts towards robotic co-worker assembly and collaboration have been investigated both in lab and factory environments. On of the examples we have been working on is the Claxon project at Audi: https://www.imec-int.com/en/what-we-offer/research-portfolio/claxon. We have a Franka Emika and Baxter Rethink Robotics platform available. For an obstacle avoidance task (eventually extended with a physical interaction task) with one of our robots, we will use a constrained control method during this internship. Therefore, the student needs at least basic knowledge in control theory (e.g. PID control). Knowledge in constrained control (e.g. Reference Governor) is not necessary, but is beneficial and makes it easier for the student to achieve more in a short time. Additionally to the following technical requirements, the student should as well be versatile and social to work with the colleagues in the lab. Some hands-on experience is requested as well. The student will be guided by 2 PhD researchers and a Post-Doc researcher, with a lot of experience in the field. Prof. Vanderborght will be supervising the student as well. Only students at the end of their master will be expected due to the level of the internship on the one hand, and the potential to continue the work as a PhD students on the other hand. We are looking for an ambitious high-profile student. A conference call (skype for example) will be organized to estimate the trainee?s potential. An NDA will be signed at the start of the internship.
